What We Screen For
We screen for suspicious oral lesions, precancerous cell changes, and tissue abnormalities that are not visible during a standard exam. This includes changes in color, texture, or tissue patterns that may appear on the lips, tongue, cheeks, throat, or the floor and roof of the mouth.
Early Symptoms of Oral Cancer You Shouldn’t Ignore
Persistent Mouth Sores
Sores or ulcers that don’t heal within two weeks can be an early sign of abnormal tissue changes and should be evaluated by a dentist.
Unexplained Pain or Numbness
Discomfort, numbness, or a burning sensation in the lips, mouth, tongue, or throat may indicate early-stage oral cancer even if no visible lesion is present.
Changes in Color or Texture
Red, white, or dark patches, as well as rough or thickened areas inside the mouth, may signal precancerous cell activity.
Difficulty Swallowing or Speaking

People More Likely to Develop Oral Cancer
Tobacco Users
People who smoke cigarettes, cigars, vape, or use chewing tobacco have a significantly higher risk of developing oral cancer due to constant exposure to carcinogens.
Frequent Alcohol Consumers
Heavy or long-term alcohol use weakens oral tissue and increases the chances of abnormal cell changes inside the mouth and throat.
Adults Over 40

People With HPV (Human Papillomavirus)
